Melanoma is currently the second most common cancer among 20- to 29-year-old women, yet many continue to spend long hours “working on their tans”.
According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the incidence of melanoma has increased 690 percent from 1950 to 2001, and the overall mortality rate has increased 165 percent during this same period.
Sun damage can occur even if you can’t see it with the naked eye.
This young woman’s face looks smooth and even to the naked eye in the photo on the left. But the photo on the right was taken with a UV camera and shows the damage under the surface of the skin caused by prolonged exposure to the sun’s rays.
What is more tragic is that they are more afraid of wrinkles than melanoma.
