Most people when they have dehydrated skin think to themselves, well I must not be drinking enough water. Water no doubt is important for not only our skin health but our body as well. Without sufficient moisture the enzymes required to maintain our collagen and elastin decline. This makes us vulnerable to ageing. Proper exfoliation also requires moisture in the skin for the skin cells to exfoliate off properly.
Whilst we need to drink water, it is extremely RARE for the skin to be dehydrated because of the amount of water you drink. If you were dehydrated you would have other signs and symptoms which would indicate systemic dehydration. Examples would be lethargy and sunken eyes.
Many aestheticians make the mistake of thinking that because the clients skin is dehydrated that it is from them not drinking enough water. Most often it has nothing to do with the consumption of water. It has to do with what they are using topically on their skin.
Many ingredients interact with the skin barrier, and it is these ingredients that influence whether the skin is dehydrated or not. If your skin barrier is compromised it does not matter how much water you drink you will FEEL dehydrated. The equivalent is filling a bath up with water and not putting a plug in it.
Our Roccoco Botanicals Skincare products are designed to mimic the skin itself and therefore integrate with the skin, stopping dehydration. We have products to treat all skin conditions.
