Have you ever broken out from playing sport? It is not uncommon for teenagers to break out from wearing helmets, especially boys.

Boys sweat a lot more and this sweat combined with the strap rubbing on their skin can generate friction and inflammation. As a consequence interleukin-1a is released in that area. This can result in more breakouts in this particular area.

For women we often find this in summer if your bra strap is rubbing. I know for myself sometimes this can occur and whilst they are not a blackhead, they are painful and inflammatory in nature.

So is there a way to prevent this?
Apply a barrier cream to the area to minimise the irritation and chafing that occurs. Immediately after sport ensure that you wash your face with your cleanser so that you are not leaving sweat sitting on the skin.

Apply a cream that helps to strengthen the skin barrier as well. The more often you wear a helmet the easier it is for that skin to break down, especially if sweating is involved.

Our suggested product for protecting the skin is Roccoco Botanicals Peptide Serum. It forms a light protective layer on the skin to prevent it. It acts like a band aid for the skin and helps heals wounds and scars as well. Available in store.
